The Sound Of Silence

0

I've come to talk with you again,
because a vision softly creeping,
left its seeds while I was sleeping,
and the vision that was planted in my brain
still remains
within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
narrow streets of cobblestone,
'neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
when my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
that split the night
and touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
people hearing without listening,
people writing songs that voices never share
and no one dared...
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools" said I, "You do not know
silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
and echoed
in the wells of silence.

And the people bowed and prayed
to the neon god they made,
and the sign flashed out its warning,
in the words that it was forming.
And the signs said "the words of the prophets
are written on the subway walls
and tenement halls"
and whispered in the sounds of silence.

Freedom

"As long as men are free to ask what they must, free to say what they think, free to think what they will, freedom can never be lost and science can never regress."

Lost and Delirious / El último Suspiro

Pauline: "Liar! Liar! Liar! Liar! You've all got your heads up your assholes because love is. It just is and nothing you can say can make it go away because it is the point of why we are here, it is the highest point and once you are up there, looking down on everyone else, you're there forever. Because if you move, right, you fall. You fall."

-

Pauline: "¡Mientes! ¡Mientes! ¡Mientes!

Dan in Real Life / Como la Vida Misma

Mitch: Dad, mum, what do you think of...?
Dad: Well, Mitch, it's just too soon to tell!
Mum: That being said, she's bright, lovely, adorable, and if you botch this up, we'll keep her and get rid of you.
-
Marie: What was that?
Dan: I couldn't... I couldn't stop myself.
Marie: What am I supposed to do now?
Dan: You can't do anything. He's my brother.
Marie: Why did you sing for me... then?
Dan: Because I... I'm...
Marie: Page 92. "Did I just die? Because an angel walked into the room." Page 148. Uh, "I'll forgive you your past if you'll forgive me mine." It seems all his best lines were yours.
(Silence)
Marie: It's unbearable. I... I can't keep pretending.
-
Dan: What don't I understand, Cara? Please, help me out. What is it? Is it frustrating that you can't be with this person? That there's something keeping you apart? That there's something about this person that you can connect with? And whenever you're near this person, you don't know what to say, and you say everything that's in your mind and in your heart, and you know that if you could just be together, that this person would help you become the best possible version of yourself?

"Dear Readers, for most of you, this is my first column in your paper. In the future, I will be answering your questions, but today I want to break from my usual format and talk to you about the subject of plans. Not so much my plan for this column, but life plans, and how we all make them. And how we hope that our kids make good, smart, safe plans of their own. But if we're really honest with ourselves, our plans usually don't work out as we had hoped. So instead of asking our young people "What are you plans? What do you plan to do with your life?" maybe we should tell them this: "Plan to be surprised."

------------------

-
Marie: ¿Qué fue eso?
Dan: No pude... No puede detenerme.
Marie: ¿Qué debo hacer ahora?
Dan: No puedes hacer nada. Él es mi hermano.
Marie: Entonces, ¿por qué cantaste para mí?
Dan: Porque yo... estoy...
Marie: págino 92 "¿Acabo de morir? Porque entró un ángel en la habitación." Página 148. "Te perdono el pasado si tú me perdonas el mío." Parece que sus mejores frases eran tuyas.
(Silence)
Marie: Es insoportable. Yo.. no puedo seguir fingiendo.
-

Being afraid

0

“I'm afraid to be alone, I'm afraid not to be alone. I'm afraid of what I am, what I'm not, what I might become, what I might never become. I don't want to stay at my job for the rest of my life, but I'm afraid to leave. And I'm just tired, you know? I'm just so tired of being afraid.”

-Michelle Pfeiffer
